It was 70 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous period. This was a time long before machines came into existance. A time where civilizations, bar the many tribes of humans scattered across the world, didn’t exist. The Cretaceous period was a era where the lands were nothing but plains, forests, savannahs, and deserts. Massive oceans surrounded the enormous expanses of land, housing thousands upon thousands of prehistoric creatures swimming beneath the waves. On the land, extraordinary animals and plant life thrived beautifully. The most magnificent creatures of all were the mighty dinosaurs, the ancient reptiles that roamed the Earth and claimed it as their great kingdom.
In a massive forest located in a land that would eventually become North America, a medium sized nest lay on top of a large slab of rock. The nest was bowl-shaped, fashioned out of various twigs, plants, and roots. Inside the primitive construct, a large oval-shaped egg lay still, giving out no signs of movement. All of a sudden, two massive shadows loomed over the egg, blocking out the sunlight that had cut its way through the canopy of the trees. The two shadows revealed to be a mated pair of Tyrannosaurs, looking at the egg expectantly.
“It shouldn’t be long until the egg hatches.” Said the dark blue male T-Rex in a excited tone.
“Hopefully. I can’t wait to see our baby. I hope it’s a female!” Replied the light magenta female T-Rex. The male scoffed at her statement.
“A female? Please. This valley doesn’t have enough male Rexes walking about.” The male stated, earning a look from his mate.
“...... Not that there’s anything wrong with having a lot of females.”
The female let out a soft laugh as she lovingly nuzzled her mate while keeping a close eye on the egg.
“Lora, do you think we’ll be good parents?” The male asked.
“Karo, of course we will. I know you’ll definitely be a great father.” Lora replied. The two soon-to-be parents continued to coo over their egg, until a rage-filled roar broke the peaceful silence.
The thundering sound of footsteps made the two Tyrannosaurs turn their heads to the source of the sound. A massive, greyish-green Tyrannosaurus Rex smashed his way out of the foliage, roaring angrily. His blood-red eyes set on the two smaller Tyrannosaurs, steam rising from his nostrils. His whole body, especially his face, was covered in gruesome scars, some were still fresh. His breath reeked of blood and death, expelling a nasty scent in the air. Karo and Kara snarled as they stood defensively in front of their nest.
“Dharak!” Karo exclaimed, circling the larger Tyrannosaurus. Dharak snarled viciously as he took a snap at Karo, who dodged with little effort. Karo lunged at Dharak and clamped his jaws on Dharak’s neck, sinking his sharp teeth into the Tyrannosaur’s scaly skin. Lora bit down on Dharak’s left leg, trying to bring him down. Dharak roared furiously, throwing the couple off effortlessly. He turned to the nest and charged, opening his wicked jaws to devour the egg inside. Karo rammed Dharak right on time, shoving the larger predator onto the ground. The impact of Dharak’s fall shook the ground enough to fling the egg out of the nest. The egg rolled downhill, escaping Dharak’s grasp.
“NOOOOOO!!!!” Karo screamed, running to rescue the egg. But he was stopped when Dharak clamped his jaws on Karo’s neck and lifted him into the air, throwing him into Lora. The two Tyrannosaurs helplessly slid off a cliff, plummeting straight down into a dark abyss below. Dharak roared triumphantly as he turned around and left, completely forgetting about the egg.

The egg continued rolling downhill, miraculously remaining intact. After what seemed like forever, the egg finally rolled into a large nest, leaning next to another egg. The second egg in question was a little bigger than the first one, and it sported little pink speckles on its shell. As if on cue, a soon-to-be mother Hadrosaur approached the nest, gasping in shock at the strange egg that appeared in her nest. All of a sudden, the larger egg began to tremble and shake, revealing small cracks enveloping on the shell. After a moment, a infant light pink female Hadrosaur broke out of the eggshell while squeaking loudly. The mother Hadrosaur smiled with glee as she nuzzled her newborn infant with her snout. Following suit, the first egg began to shake and tremble wildly, rolling around in the nest. A second later, a tail broke a hole in the eggshell, wagging excessively. A pair of clawed feet broke through, fumbling in the air. The egg finally stood up, wobbling profusely. As soon as it got up, the egg fell on the ground and smashed into a bunch of pieces, revealing a tiny light blue male Tyrannosaurus Rex hidden inside. The infant T-Rex sneezed and lifted his head towards the mother Hadrosaur, his light brown eyes meeting her emerald green eyes. A butterfly fluttered over the T-Rex’s snout, intriguing the infant. Upon attempting to follow the insect, the infant T-Rex fell over, breaking out into a fit of laughter. The mother Hadrosaur smiled, nuzzling the little carnivore lovingly.
“Welcome to the world, my little K’aloo....” The Hadrosaur softly crooned.
